At Highborder Lodge, we specialise in care for elderly people often living with physical and/or mental conditions/disabilities, including severe Dementia who have high needs and require assistance with all aspects of their physical and mental well-being.
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Cook to work within our lovely Care Home. They will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those with a background in food preparation and kitchen experience to develop their skills further within a professional setting.
The hours for the role are part time. We require 6.30am to 3pm every other weekend (both Saturday & Sunday), and also to help us cover annual leave.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook meals according to specified recipes and standards
- Assist in the organisation and maintenance of the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene are upheld at all times
- Support meal preparation for both individual orders and large-scale events or functions
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Maintain a clean and organised work station
- Collaborate with team members to deliver efficient service during busy periods
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying management of shortages or expiry dates
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and procedures
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Good communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and management
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and presentation standards
- Previous serving experience is advantageous but not essential; a friendly attitude and customer-focused approach are essential for success in this role.
